Between Mother's Day and Father's Day, the shad fishing in Oregon on the Umpqua River is in full swing. These are scrappy fish and are super fun on ultralight gear. Shad can be used as bait for crabbing, as well as for sturgeon and halibut fishing. These trips typically last 7-8 hours.
